Let’s be real: voice AI used to suck….
You’d say, “Hey Siri, remind me to buy milk,” and your phone would wake you at 3 a.m. screaming about “silk.” But that’s changing fast. According to the new a16z update (LINK), voice agents are moving from clueless to crazy smart—thanks to better large language models, improved natural language understanding, and a push toward on-device privacy…
Translation: we’re going from a slow, one-trick “set timer” assistant to an AI that actually gets you. It knows your habits, can handle back-and-forth convos, and won’t accidentally spam you with milk jokes. We’re not there yet, but check out the report. It’s a peek into a future where talking to your phone might actually be useful.
