🔥How to Crush the End of 2024 and Set Yourself Up for a Killer 2025

Alright, so it's the end of the year, and even though there isn’t much going on in the ecosystem, it’s prime time to reflect, plan, and level up for next year. Here’s how I’m doing it:

Step 1: Reflect on 2024 – Own It

Before you can plan the future, you gotta own the past.

• Wins: Write down everything that went right – big or small. (Yes, everything. You’ll thank me later.)

• Lessons: What didn’t work? Cool, now you know. Don’t repeat it.

• Challenges: What was hard, but made you better? Highlight that too – it’s gold for next year.

Step 2: Set 2025 Goals – Big, Bold, and Broken Down

Don’t just slap some vague “I wanna grow my startup” on the wall. Be specific.

• Make them realistic but ambitious.

• Break them into quarterly milestones – small wins keep the momentum alive.

Step 3: Build Your 2025 Calendar NOW

The secret weapon? Planning the right events and deadlines early. Here is what’s on my radar for Houston in January:

• Side Project Society goal-setting workshop

• Houston Business Journal’s Economic Forecast 2025 – this one’s a must if you’re in H-Town.

• Cup of Joey Memorial City

• In the Age of the Humanoid Robot

• Founders LIVE pitch competition at the Ion

• Investing in the Age of AI

  Personal time for networking (gotta meet the people), team-building (build the squad), and growth (sharpen your edge).

Step 4: Start January Like a Beast

January is where the tone is set.

• Start with decisive actions. Pick one thing that matters and crush it.

• Build momentum early. That snowball effect is real.

Step 5: Build New Habits for Success

2025 is the year of systems. Here’s what I’m palling on doing:

• Tracking everything in Notion – life lessons, goals, and tasks.

• Revisiting workflows to make them leaner, faster, better.

Bonus: The Misogi Challenge

I heard this on MFM podcast recently: every year, pick one misogi.

• It’s a huge, challenging task or event – something hard enough that it defines your year.

• For me? Maybe it might be the longest bike ride. Perhaps it’s something crazy like hosting the biggest startup event in Houston. Whatever it is, it will be BIG.

Step 6: Stay Connected to Your Ecosystem

Nobody wins solo.

• Plug into your local startup scene – attend meetups, events, and get your name out there.

• Build partnerships and stay on top of trends – the right connection can change everything.
